We continue to be blown away by the generosity of Stafford County residents. On Saturday, November 18, North Stafford Rotarians gathered at the Weis Family Market on Route 1 in Stafford for a Stuff-the-Truck event benefiting S.E.R.V.E., Stafford County’s food pantry. SERVE parked a truck in front of the store and provided a list of toiletries and non-perishables that their clients need. Our role was to chat with people and ask them to purchase items from the list.
Between 9 and 5, we collected 987 pounds of food and toiletries valued at $1895.04! We also collected $429 in cash. One woman handed us a $100 bill. Another bought 10 (!) turkeys with fixings to help feed 10 families. She was paying it forward after SERVE helped her at one time. President Andrea Hornung and President Elect Tisha Johnson purchased another two carts’ worth of goods. We’re so thrilled to know that many families will have a happy (and delicious) Thanksgiving thanks to the kindness of our Stafford County community.
