Each year, the North Stafford Rotary Club brings the community together through its meaningful Flags for Heroes fundraiser — a powerful tribute honoring the people who make a difference in our lives.
Since 2016, more than 200 American flags have been displayed in front of the Stafford County Courthouse, recognizing heroes of all kinds, including military veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, teachers, and everyday community champions. For the 2026 campaign, flags are scheduled to be installed around May 22 and will remain on display through Memorial Day and Flag Day, with a closing ceremony planned around June 16 (final date to be confirmed).
Community members and local businesses can sponsor a flag in honor or memory of someone special. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser directly support local charities and veterans-focused organizations serving Stafford County. The 2026 beneficiary will be a local veterans’ organization, continuing Rotary’s mission of giving back where it matters most.
In 2025, proceeds supported 19Hands, a Stafford-based nonprofit providing hands-on programs that promote mental health, wellness, and community support for active-duty military members, veterans, and first responders.
Flags for Heroes continues to serve as both a visual tribute and a lasting reminder of the service, sacrifice, and everyday heroism found throughout the Stafford community. Sponsoring a flag is a meaningful way to honor a hero while supporting important local causes.
